There are opportunities for patients and the public, researchers, students, healthcare professionals, industry, charities and other organisations to contribute to and work with the MRC Centre of Research Excellence in Restorative Immunology.
The Centre brings together a collaborative community of researchers and research professionals with expertise and interests relevant to restorative immunology.
Centre Members will usually be Principal Investigators or Group Leaders at participating institutions whose research has a strong alignment with the Centre’s scientific programme. Members will contribute to the Centre’s research community and will be eligible to apply for relevant internal funding opportunities.
Affiliate Members will provide a route for researchers and research professionals with a significant interest in restorative immunology who do not currently meet the criteria for full Centre membership.

The Centre will provide flexible funding opportunities to support innovative research aligned with its scientific programme and to enable new collaborations across disciplines, institutions and sectors.
Opportunities will include support for emerging ideas and activities that can accelerate discovery, strengthen collaboration and help promising research progress towards patient benefit.

People with lived experience of immune-mediated inflammatory diseases will play an important role in shaping the Centre and its research.
We will work with patients, carers and members of the public across the Centre’s activities, from helping to identify research priorities and develop individual projects to contributing to our governance, communications and decisions about how research is carried out and shared.

The Centre brings together expertise across disciplines, institutions and career stages to address shared questions in restorative immunology.
Researchers and research professionals can engage with the Centre through its Research Streams, working groups, scientific meetings, training and research culture activities, and through opportunities to develop collaborations across the Centre.
We particularly want to support connections between disciplines and career stages and create opportunities for people to contribute their expertise, develop new collaborations and become part of the wider restorative immunology community.
The Centre will support the next generation of researchers working across immunology, data science, experimental medicine and related disciplines through a programme of doctoral studentships and wider training opportunities.
Our first cohort of Centre-associated doctoral students is expected to begin in October 2027. Studentship projects will be selected through a competitive process, with projects expected to align with the Centre’s scientific programme and provide high-quality, collaborative training.

Collaboration beyond the Centre is central to our approach. We want to work with researchers, clinicians, industry, charities, healthcare organisations and other partners who share our ambition to advance restorative immunology.
Opportunities may include collaborative research, knowledge exchange, access to complementary expertise and technologies, co-development of research opportunities and partnerships that help translate discoveries towards patient benefit.
